You might want to check out Daqarta for
waveform or spectral analysis applications.
It's real-mode DOS-based, but will run (full-screen)
from a Win9x shortcut.  It's very fast, even on
those old, slow systems that seem to get relegated
to doing the acquisition work around some labs.
