POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER IN COMPUTATIONAL MUSIC ANALYSIS
Department of Music, University of Jyväskylä, Finland
Applications are invited for the post of a Post-doctoral Researcher
within the project "Intelligent Music Systems in Music Therapy" funded
by the Academy of Finland.
The aims of the project are: (1) to develop methods for automatic music
analysis that can be used, among others, in analyzing improvisations
produced in clinical music therapy; and (2) to develop interactive
music systems that facilitate clinical music therapy work with persons
having limited motor abilities. For more information about the project,

The applicant would be expected to hold a PhD in musicology,
psychology, computing or a related discipline. Expertise in the area of
music analysis, music cognition or programming (Matlab, Max and/or C++)
would be an advantage.
The post is tenable from January 1, 2004, though an earlier appointment
is possible. The initial appointment will be for 12 to 24 months.
Renewal of the appointment will be contingent upon the availability of
adequate funding and performance. Salary range (before taxes) will be
26,850 - 30,587 euros per annum.
