Post-doctoral position available

Dear All,

INRIA (the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science
and Automatics) is opening a post-doctoral position
in the REVES (REndering and Virtual Environments with Sound) research
group. For more information on INRIA and the REVES group see:

        http://www-sop.inria.fr/reves

The position is funded by a grant from the French ministry of research
and is part of the OPERA research project, whose goal is to develop
and evaluate perceptually-based rendering algorithms for spatialized
audio simulations of complex virtual environments.

OPERA is a joint research project between INRIA, France Telecom R&D,
IRCAM, LIMSI, CSTB and Virtools.

The successful candidate would be expected to co-operate in the
planning, setting up, running and analysis of psychoacoustic experiments
related to perceptually-based 3D audio rendering.
The work will also involve design of perceptually-based
signal-processing schemes for 3D audio rendering.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in an area closely connected
to psychoacoustics, perceptual audio coding, audio
engineering or computer science.

Experience in psychoacoustic testing, audio coding, interactive
3D audio processing, computer graphics or virtual reality
would definitely be an advantage.

The position is available starting April 1st 2004, for a period of
18 months. The salary will be 1827,84 euros per month
("net", i.e. after all social security charges have been removed;
supplementary income tax must be paid on this, which depends on
your marital status etc., but would typically amount to 8-10%).

Applicants should send a CV including a summary of their career and
experience to date, preferably via email to :

        Nicolas.Tsingos@sophia.inria.fr

or via surface mail to :
