frequency shift detectors

Dear List,

I would appreciate pointers to studies demonstrating neurons at any level of the auditory system that are tuned to continuous (e.g., sweeps, sinusoidal modulation) and discontinuous changes (e.g., step changes with a silent gap between tones of different frequencies) in sound frequency. In particular, I am interested in studies showing individual neurons that are tuned to both types of change.

Sincerely,
