Research associateship at Stirling University

Dear all:

I am looking for a new research assistant: the post is being re- advertised since the appointee decided at the last minute to take another post. I would like the appointee to starts as soon as possible.

Department of Computing Science and Mathematics, University of Stirling, Stirling Scotland, UK

Research Assistant (re-advertisement)

 £23,449 to £28,839 p.a.

As a result of a new EPSRC funded grant, jointly between the University of Stirling (Computing Science) and the University of Edinburgh (Electrical and Electronics Engineering), the University of Stirling is seeking a research assistant to work on a project whose aim is to build an active MEMS/CMOS microphone with integral acoustic bandpass filters, and which will be a Neuromorphic input device oriented specifically at the interpretation (rather than reproduction) of sound. The project website is at http://www.cs.stir.ac.uk/~lss/research/memsmike/index.html . The Stirling side of the project is concerned with the overall system design and simulation, and with testing the devices in systems. MEMS fabrication and CMOS detailed design will take place at Edinburgh. Familiarity with early auditory processing and a good working knowledge of MATLAB would be an advantage. The project is funded for 48 months.

This is a full time fixed term post for 4 years.

For informal enquiries about the project please contact Professor Leslie Smith, l.s.smith@xxxxxxxxxxxxx, Department of Computing Science and Mathematics, University of Stirling FK9 4LA, Scotland, UK, tel (+44) 1786 467435.
