Postdoctoral Position Available

POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN AUDITORY PHYSIOLOGY AND BEHAVIOR

Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM)

A postdoctoral position is available to study auditory processing and perception of natural signals in behaving gerbils. We study the effects of experience and partial hearing loss in adults and in developing animals. The lab utilizes multi-electrode electrophysiology in behaving animals, and computational analyses to evaluate population codes for auditory perception.

Our laboratory is part of a larger, very active Auditory Focus Group, with combined expertise across several levels of analysis (slice, intracellular in vivo, and chronic neurophysiology; calcium imaging; behavior; anatomy) as well as auditory regions (the auditory brainstem, midbrain and cortex). The group is highly interactive and accessible. The successful applicant will benefit greatly from this expertise and from ongoing collaborations within and outside this group.

The position is open this summer, and will continue for at least two years. The successful applicant has experience with electrophysiological recording (ideally in vivo) and/or with behavior, comfort in working with behaving animals (do you have pets? do you like animals?), computational/programming skills, and a strong interest in auditory processing.

To apply, please send a CV and statement of research interests to Dr. Merri Rosen: mrosen@xxxxxxxxxxxx
