[AUDITORY] Post-doctoral position on ultrasound neurostimulation (Marseille, France)

Dear list,

Applications are opened for a 2-year post-doctoral position to work in Aix-Marseille University (Marseille, France) under the supervision of Olivier Macherey, Arnaud Norena and Emilie Franceschini.

This position is part of the ANR-funded HEAR-US project which aims to test if and how focused ultrasound can provide direct neural excitation at different sites of the auditory system. The candidate will be in charge of designing and running electrophysiological experiments to record multi-unit activity and local field potentials in anesthetized guinea pigs.  The recordings will be performed at the level of the inferior colliculus and auditory cortex and the stimulation paradigms will involve both electrical and ultrasonic stimulation.

This project is part of a collaboration between labs of Acoustics (LMA, Franceschini, Macherey), Neuroscience (LNC, Norena), Biology (IBDM, Moqrich) and Physics (Kovacic Lab) and involves both in-vivo and in-vitro techniques.

We are looking for an adventurous and talented (who doesn’t?) scientist with a strong experimental background and proficiency in running electrophysiological animal experiments and data analysis. Previous experience in the auditory field, in ultrasound stimulation techniques and/or in computational modeling will be a plus. Good Matlab programming and writing skills are required.

Informal enquiries can be sent to Olivier Macherey macherey@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Closing date for initial applications is 6th May 2021. Planned starting date is 1st September 2021.
Applications should be made through the following website: https://emploi.cnrs.fr/Offres/CDD/UMR7031-SANGUE-020/Default.aspx

Thanks,

Olivier
