[AUDITORY] Postdoc on EEG studies of music and language processing



Dear all,

 

We are seeking a PDRA to undertake research on music and language processing in autism and amusia using EEG methods.

 

The PDRA will be undertake EEG research for an ERC funded research project, CAASD, 678733, entitled “Cracking the pitch code in music and language: Insights from congenital amusia (CA) and autism spectrum disorders (ASD).” The successful candidate is expected to conduct independent research using EEG methods on music and language processing in CA and ASD. Specifically, the post holder will carry out EEG studies to compare music and language processing in English speakers with or without CA or ASD, in order to understand the underlying mechanisms of pitch processing in music and language.


​​​​​​​The successful candidate will have:

  • A PhD in psychology or a related discipline;
  • Knowledge of auditory processing, music cognition, and language processing;
  • Experience and skills of EEG methods for appropriate data collection and analysis, using advanced Matlab toolboxes such as the mTRF toolbox;
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail;
