[AUDITORY] Deloitte AI Institute UK - Affective computing webinar, 8 November 2021

[apologies for cross posting]

Dear all,

Deloitte AI Institute UK will be hosting Prof. Björn Schuller (Imperial College/University of Augsburg) on 8th November at 18:00 (London time) for a webinar entitled "Affective Computing – from Bench to Business". More information and the registration link can be found at: https://deloitte.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_aK-1PtTKRsmE2F3PCpeThQ

Webinar summary:
Affective Computing is broadly speaking all about computers and emotion. Recognising affective states in human multimodal signals including audio, video, and physiological data and multimedia data such as sound, music, speech, text, or images is the main interest of the field since its kick-off roughly in the mid 1990s. However, also synthesising artificial emotion in according media or reacting to it, e.g., in human-computer interaction, is of similar interest. By now, the comparably younger field has matured in terms of technology readiness level to business level. Likewise, start-ups are rich in the field these days, side-by-side with established players, but also global enterprises are seemingly aware of the huge potential that lies in “artificial emotional intelligence”. Here, we shall first go through the range of use-cases reaching from human-computer interaction to e-learning, gaming, health and wellbeing, or security, to name a few. Then, we will revisit the common technical modelling approaches of affect and emotion. We shall also have a peek under the hood of typical recent affect analysis and synthesis engines. To best meet their ever-present craving for data, we will also touch upon this field-dominating topic. We shall then deal with pressing issues such as efficiency, explainability, fairness, and trustworthiness. Finally, we will have a glance at the current market and its main players prior to a sneak preview on tomorrow’s affect-savvy AI.
