Dear colleagues,
With such sadness, I am sharing the news that Paul Abbas passed away unexpectedly Monday morning. His humble, kind-hearted personality combined with his brilliant scientific mind made him the rarest of the rare. I am so fortunate to
have worked with him and to have been mentored by him.
From his early days of single auditory nerve fiber recordings to the later days of recording ECAPs in cochlear implant users, his contributions to cochlear implants and electrophysiology have been far reaching to say the least. However, I will most of
all be grateful to have known one of the most kind-hearted individuals I’ve met.
The family has asked that memorial contributions to be made to support the Paul Abbas Scholarship Fund at the University of Iowa.
