I am wondering whether there exists a publication, and/or interests among readers of this internet group, on the evolutionary development/environmental adaptation of the auditory system, that is, of its neurological and cognitive characteristics (not the fysical development of the organs)  over the period from homo erectus to present. Has anyone ever come across such a paper, most probably to be a highly
speculative paper anyhow?
Looking forward to any contacts,
