Re: 2d and 3d sound localization

Dear Hussein,

I plane to finish it not in this week but in this year..
I' amfraid that robust source localization is not in that stage that would be easy to find a generally working and easily applicable algorithms...

Nevertheless, I would advise you to contact to the following researchers, since I think they developed the most powerful algorithms:
Jacob Benesty - benesty@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx "Time-Delay Estimation via Linear Interpolation and Cross Correlation" IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON SPEECH AND AUDIO PROCESSING, VOL. 12, NO. 5, SEPTEMBER 2004
and/or
Stanley T. Birchfield - stb@xxxxxxxxxxx "A UNIFYING FRAMEWORK FOR ACOUSTIC LOCALIZATION" European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO) Vienna, Austria, September 2004

If you managed to get an algorithm and you need more help, I would be happy to assist, since I'm also interested in them..

zoltan

Dear Zoltan

I need a code whose inputs are real input from microphones. Thank you for thinking of sending the code to me (I hope this code finishes this week) and I hope that I could return the favor.

Dear Hussein,

If you plane to use input that was created by simulations the problem is perfectly solvable by the traditional cross correlation function, that is available in Matlab or even in C from several sources....

In case of real input from microphones the problem is quite difficult the resolution and the computation requirement is highly depends on the acoustic environment.. I'm working on a robust algorithm if it's ready i'll send it to you :)

hello all,

I just want to know where I could find some c or matlab codes for 2d or 3d
sound localization (a code that returns for me the azimuth and the elevation
of the sound source with respect to the robot)

thanks

Hussein
